What is Before You Get Cancelled?
In the age of social media, we have seen cancel culture play out in real-time. There was Gina Rodriguez, there was Kevin Hart, Roseanne Barr, and even Kanye West – just to name a few.
As Media Studies students who will soon be heading into the workforce, it is important that we use social media responsibly and avoid making career-altering decisions on digital platforms.
That’s where our event, Before You Get Cancelled, comes in.
Before You Get Cancelled intends to educate and inform attendees on the ethics and potential implications of social media by exploring the concepts of cancel culture and digital branding.
Nicole Servinis, a live-eye reporter from Breakfast Television, will share her insights and knowledge on this controversial subject by diving into some real-world examples.
Digital Media Strategist, Tom Yawney, will also join us to discuss the importance of digital branding and offer his advice on how to avoid “being cancelled.”
If you aren’t sold on the idea already, the event also features light refreshments, an interactive pop-up, giveaways and more. So be sure to get your ticket today!
